PLEASE DAMAGE MICROSOFT

Many of you have probably heard of Microsoft, its products are destroying files and frustrating people all over the world. Lets for example take Windows, version whatever. Its found on computers nearly everywhere, people are very quick to overcome their technological lag and to buy the latest version. None of them however realize what kind of inferior product they are buying. The software every couple of weeks requires you to run a program called Defrag. After using your computer for a long period of time, files get fragmented, spread all over your hard disk, then defrag comes into action and supposedly puts them back where they belong. Defrag being included with the Windows package is totally incompatible with windows. Try running it and if it wont restart about million times, you got lucky, the utility moreover not only doubles the work on your processor, displaying a pretty matrix with squares jumping all over the screen but works for about a day or so. Sure your files will be "in their right place", but create or delete a file and you have to start over an hour long process of running defrag. People however dont realize that fragmentation does not need to happen, we have since 1984 known how to take care of fragmentation, eliminating it almost completely.

Scandisk, another Windows utility that automatically turns on after "incorrectly" shutting down of Windows, is a program which is supposed to look for errors on you hard drive and simply fix them. However, in doing so it destroys the file structure on your computer. Hundreds of files can become corrupted or just simply missing. After running Scandisk you might suddenly find out that a 200-Mb file on which you have been working on for the last 5 weeks, has suddenly become corrupt, while before running Scandisk it was fine.

We are quick to buy Windows and put them on our desktops and then we dutifully watch the blue screens explain how a certain program has performed an illegal operation, causing you to loose all of your work. Which all absolutely happened because of a bug in the program itself and had nothing to do with the poor quality of Windows. As I type this document my CPU is at 80 percent capacity. Kind of makes you wonder what king of formatting is required in Word 97 to strain a Pentium II computer in such a way.

The constant Windows crashes are now considered a normal part of computer life, "its not a bug, its a feature" Microsoft technicians explain over and over. Install Windows 98 and you will face even more bugs than with its preprocessor Windows 95. Buy any Microsoft product and you will be forced to buy upgrades which are simply "patches" for the buggy software you once bought and now you have to pay for again. Dont upgrade and you will soon find out that your software is now incompatible with the now better versions (still very unstable) and you are unable to open documents created with those.

The propaganda of Microsoft however runs so deep that the customers are not being aware of all the "features" they acquire by buying Windows and other Microsoft products. As well as people are concerned theres only one kind of computer, a PC with Windows. To gain this kind of fame, Bill Gates has been known to destroy companies with far superior product and thus damaging the computer industry, and all to simply make more money.

Many of you have probably not heard of Linux, its a more stable operating system than Windows will ever be (thanks to Bill), it was developed through a joint effort of thousands of people on the Internet, and guess what, its free. You can download it from the web "pro gratis", or you can buy this powerful system from a commercial vendor and pay mere 30 dollars for it. All the time I have used Linux it did not crash or freeze on me, not once. Installation is a hassle, but hey I figured it out, you can too. Dont just simply listen to the "experts" explain the history of Windows and how it has improved the United States economy, it hasnt. According to Bill Gates ( it costs too much/ not enough resources/ it is way too complicated/ more processing power is needed) to create a stable Operating System especially when < insert a sorry excuse here >.

The reason why Windows is so popular is because of its ease of use. All the flexibility and power has been taken away from the customer. Tinker with it a little bit, try to uninstall Internet Explorer (good luck) or simply change the god forsaken Windows start up screen (Im still looking for that file), and youll be breaking the license (computer equivalent of taking apart a radio to see how it works). If caught will most likely be subject to prosecution :-( , and all to further expand the name of Microsoft. By keeping its source under the protection of copyright, Bill has even hindered the software production. His slaves working on new programs have long forgotten the assembly programming language and now use Microsoft Visual whatever, which you probably guessed by now, is also full of bugs.

Linux on the other hand is open source, you are invited to do whatever you wish to do with the program. You are able to read the source file and find out how it works, and even make it better, no copyright. Buy one CD and let everyone else copy it, or borrow a copy and install it. Youll be surprised how powerful it is, you have all the capabilities of a web server, you can even write your own web search engine like yahoo (What do you think they use? Windows?).

In conclusion I would just like to summarize this boring article (especially if you dont like computers) and add a little bit more of mind boggling ideas. Windows is far from being usable, people give away power and stability of other operating systems for nice pictures and ease of use. Thanks to Microsoft you are now faced to put up with a 5 minute wait while the greatest operating system in the world loads. Compare that with MS-DOS couple of years ago, which took about 10 seconds. So please get rid of Windows, install Opera, a far superior Internet browser than both Explorer and Netscape and still under 1 MB. Dont feel like paying? At least download Netscape and dont put up with the crap Microsoft throws at you. If you dont agree with what I have said so far please answer my simple question. Why is it that todays computers running Windows, far more powerful than the one used to get a man on moon and back, are not able to handle a simple text document in Office 97 and simply freeze and crash?

Please damage Micro$oft.
